The Lewis Henry Morgan Collection
CREDITS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This web page is the product of many people, some of whose contributions date back many years.
Research with NYSM documentation and with the objects themselves was provided by Lisa Anderson, Penelope Drooker, Charles Gillette, Ray Gonyea, George Hamell, Sally McLendon, William Sturtevant, Jim Walsh, and Meredith Younge. George Hamell provided many published and unpublished sources of information about the collection and its history. Of particular importance among publications was Elisabeth Tooker's work on the history of the collection. Meredith Younge organized object databases and transcribed supplementary information; Ellen Stevens provided technical advice. Text, initially prepared by Penelope Drooker, was improved by George Hamell and Lisa Anderson. Lisa Anderson, Toni Benedict, and Richard Hill gave advice on use of particular images.
Images of objects were provided by George Hamell, Ralph Rataul, Gwen Spicer, Greg Troup, and John Yost. Greg Troup carried out the professional photography of all objects in the collection during 2001. Jim Walsh organized objects for this work. Emily Jacobs and Bill Simmons labelled and organized the photographs. Ron Barber produced the rotatable images. Scanning and preparation of images for use on the web site was done by Ron Barber, Penelope Drooker, Erik Rutnik, and Meredith Younge. The web site was constructed by David Gerhard.
Maggie Sebastian and Lisa Anderson initiated the Morgan Collection conservation treatment and rehousing project, which was implemented under the coordination of Penelope Drooker. The 2000-2002 matching grant provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services made it, and this web page, possible.
